Position Summary:
Performs radiographic procedures for patients in surgery. Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining repairs needed to equipment. Protects patient and other personnel from radiation hazards. Maintains radiographic supplies, films, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
The main responsibility of an X-Ray Technician is to ensure that imaging tests are performed safely and correctly in a hospital imaging center. Some specific X-Ray Technician job duties may include:

• Interpreting the order for the test to determine what body parts need imaging
• Explaining the test to patients and positioning them to make the test possible
• Setting the controls on X-ray equipment in preparation for imaging
• Checking X-ray images and retaking them as needed to ensure clarity
• Cleaning and performing routine maintenance tasks to keep X-ray equipment operating smoothly
• Sending X-ray images to other medical providers for reading
• Inventorying and stocking films and radiologic supplies
• Updating patient records with pertinent information
